Apr 30, 2010 07:39 AM
Seafood noodle soup with shrimp, squid, and vegetables.

In this video, we learn how to make Jjamppong. You will need: Jjamppong noodles, 10 dried anchovies, 3 shiitake mushrooms, 1/3 c dried kelp, 1/2 of a medium onion, 1/4 c pork, 3 large shrimp, 4 mussels and a few pieces of squid. You will also need garlic, ginger, vegetable oil, oyster sauce, fish sauce, hot pepper flakes, ground black pepper, carrots, leeks, bamboo shoots and white mushrooms. First, you will make your stock which involves taking 7 cups of water and boiling it with your dried anchovies, kelp, onion and dried shiitake mushrooms for 30 minutes over low-medium heat. Next, you will combine 1 1/2 tbsp hot pepper flakes with 1 tbsp of vegetable oil in a small mixing bowl. After this, cut your squid lengthwise, then shell your shrimp and mussels and cut your pork into thin strips. Now, prepare your vegetables by cutting into bite size pieces. After this, boil your noodles in a large pot then rinse and set aside. Now heat a skillet and place in 1 tbsp vegetable oil, 2 garlic cloves, 1 tsp minced ginger then fry the pork in with it. After 2 minutes, add in your vegetables and cook for another 5 minutes. You will now add in your seafood, pepper flakes, vegetable oil, stock and oyster sauce. Combine everything and serve hot in a bowl!
